Otile Brown: Being ‘Mr Nice Guy’ is very expensive

Kenyan R&B singer Otile Brown seems to have been disappointed countless times this year by the people whom he least expected to disappoint him. The singer, through his Instagram stories, has claimed that being a nice person only leaves one disappointed. This statement comes after his explosive performance at the Stanbic Yetu Festival that was headlined by American soul artiste Anthony Hamilton. Otile Brown, whose real name is Jacob Obunga, blew away the crowd with some of his greatest hits such as Dusuma, Watoto na Pombe among others. He also gave his fans a surprise performance with Tanzania's Saraphina. However, it seems like the reception the singer received from his performance was not satisfactory as per his recent social media statements. “People you are nice to are the ones who always let you down, but I’m always prepared for disappointments because I understand you are not built like me,” he said. “The world we live in now it’s expensive to be a nice person, and the nicer you are the more you understand why successful people are hard-hearted yet they are the most respected people,” the singer said in another statement. Just a few weeks ago, the singer had yet again shared another post via his social media that hinted the artiste was feeling unappreciated. The Such Kinda Love hitmaker claimed that in the current generation no one wants to appreciate the other for their efforts. “See how we sacrifice so much just to please the world full of people that don’t even care,” he wrote. He went on to admit that he is aware that most people from this generation have mental health issues; which is why he no longer cares about some of the shade he receives from haters. “It's a depressed generation with fly pics & fake smiles. Be happy for you,” he said. The Just in Love Music CEO was recently unveiled as the Tecno Camon 19 brand ambassador and chief creative officer.

It's great to be black in Hollywood. When a black actor does something, it seems new and different just by virtue of the fact that he's black.
